Barnes & Noble climbs on upgrade
NEW YORK December, 2006 - Bookseller
Barnes & Noble is one of the best positioned candidates for a leveraged
buyout at this time, Credit Suisse said Wednesday, in upgrading the stock to
"Outperform" from "Underperform."
Analyst Gary Balter said Barnes & Noble combines consistent cash flow with
relatively cheap valuation, and could justify a purchase price at a 25
percent premium. Balter acknowledged that management's ownership position
may make an LBO transaction difficult to pursue, but noted that Pershing
Capital has taken a position in the stock, and the Riggios may want to one
day combine the company with college bookstores. |
